Cameron Smith, a teacher at Merchiston Castle School, Scotland, writes:

"Crocodile Chemistry is an excellent addition to a teacher's IT repertiore. It provides an exciting alternative to labwork allowing pupils to try dangerous experiments they wouldn't otherwise have the opportunity of doing.

"The tutorial system gives a step-by-step guide to the software and I am confident that S3 and S4 (High School) pupils of all abilities will have no difficulty with its operation.

"Particularly attractive features include presentation of data in graphical and the flexibility to design your own experiments. However, until the program is updated to allow the computer to billow out smoke and various smells it hasn't replaced practical lab work - yet!"

Laurie Stokes, a student at Merchiston Castle School, writes:

"Simple but effective, easy to follow through, although a teacher may have to give us an example. Gives a realistic view and is just as good as doing the real experiment. Covers a suitable range for students up to GCSEs. Gives the chance to generate a graph of the experiment done. Provides basic examples and the teacher can set up their own experiments on the program."

Adam Muckle, also a student at Merchiston Castle School, writes:

"I think that this program is a very good idea, because it allows any reaction to take place in safety. The results of the experiment can be graphed automatically.

"There is also a testing part, to test what you have learnt in experiments! The price may leave some schools out, though."
