Test Engineers
Role Description:
Our test engineers test simulation software used for teaching in schools.
Main Duties:
As a Test Engineer, you will find and report defects with the software and conduct focussed user testing. You will be required to:
- Write and execute formal tests based on these specifications.
- Report defects found in software using a defect-tracking tool.
- Verify changes and fixes made by software developers.
- Evaluate the software in terms of usability, performance, and educational effectiveness.
- Answer technical support questions from customers by email.
- Work a minimum of 8 hours per week.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Primarily, we are looking for students who are studying one of the following subjects towards an honours, masters or PhD degree in:
- Mathematics
- Electronics & Electrical Engineering
- Computer Science
- Physics / Chemistry may also be considered
The role may also be suitable for those between undergraduate and postgraduate courses, who wish to work more regular hours.
Test Engineers must be:
- Reliable and hard working
- Methodical, with excellent attention to detail
- Investigative, with logical problem-solving
- Exceptionally clear communicators, in written and spoken English
Employment Terms:
Standard employment contract, plus:
- £6.50 to £10.00 per hour depending on skills and experience
- Holiday work to be negotiated
- 1-week contract notice

Hours fixed weekly in advance to fit into university timetable. Must be available a minimum of 8 hours per week during office hours. Hours are divided into sessions of 0900-1300 and 1330-1730. |
